VIRTUAL WALKS

Intervened digital photography
2020-2022

Virtual walks is a serie of google maps captures made in confinement, organized and subsequently intervened. Virtual walks have allowed me to find situations that I was not looking for, imagine stories through images and see how people live on the streets of different parts of the world.

I first looked for specific neighborhoods like Williamsburg in New York, the well-known Jewish neighborhood so often portrayed in series and movies. I wanted to see the reality of its streets and that’s how I started to get lost in google maps around the world when you couldn’t go outside. So I started to find everyday scenes that spoke to each place I visited digitally. People in Rio de Janeiro who walk the streets barefoot, workers who carry unbearable weights, Jewish women in Williamsburg always surrounded by carts and lots of children…

All these local and everyday situations show the numerous inequalities and ways of existing and surviving around the world.
